We have been receiving inquires about how authors can do some promotions with the book club.
The team here at the International Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys Reading Nation has been discussing ways for authors to advertise and share their projects with our members.
What we have decided to do is offer several different advertising packages that would give our authors the ability to sponsor the various projects of the book club and in return promote their own projects.
The first package we are offering is a combo pack that includes the Pulpwood Newsletter Cover Issue, the Reading Nation Magazine, and the blog posts on the www.thepulpwoodqueens.com website.
Combo Advertising Package ($100/month)
1) We have a combo package where our authors can put an announcement in the Pulpwood Newsletter Cover Issue that Paul Roberson sends out at the beginning of every month. The announcement can be a 1-3 sentence announcement about a project you have going on or any newsworthy news you want to share with the book club. You get one link to share with that announcement. The order of the announcements is on a first come first serve basis.
2) You will also get to put a banner under every blog post on the website that links to a website of your choice.
3)The banner will also be included in the Reading Nation Magazine that Mandy Haynes publishes every month for the book club.
- The size of the banner is 728 x 90
- If you do not know how to make a banner, we recommend you hire someone from www.fiverr.com to make it for you. You will find the best deal for a great banner there.
- You will have to create the banner & upload it when you purchase your package
- You will also need to enter the URL that you want the banner to link to
4. You will also get a 250 x 350 ad placed on the sidebar of the website. The order is also first come first serve.
The price for this Combo advertising package is $100/month for as long as you stay subscribed.
Once an advertiser ends their subscription, the next advertiser in line would be moved up into their slot. So if you are second in line and the first advertiser ends their subscription, your ads will be moved up to the first slot in line.
Combo Advertising Package Summary ($100/month)
- An announcement in the Monthly Pulpwood Newsletter
- A Banner Advertisement in the Monthly Reading Nation Magazine
- A Website Banner under every blog post
- A Website Sidebar Advertisement on every blog post
Newsletter Article Sponsorship
(Author Member Program)
Hello, Pulpwood Queen Author Members!
My name is Paul Roberson and I am the manager/editor for the International Book Club Newsletter.
The International Book Club team and I have been working through ideas for how to make the newsletter more robust, interesting, personal, and inspirational for our book club members.
We have also been thinking of how we could offer promotional packages to our authors who have expressed interest in doing ads in our newsletter.
After much thought, we have decided to solve both problems with a newsletter article promotional package for our International Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys Book Club Author Members.
The sponsorship package will give our Author Members the ability to showcase themselves and their writing by contributing content for our newsletter.
We would like to offer you a 2-Day Email Content Sponsorship package for $250.
For your sponsorship, you get two articles distributed to our members through our newsletter email list that will be released on Tuesday and Thursday of the week you decide to sponsor.
I will also have a section in the newsletter cover issue introducing the Pulpwood Author Members sponsoring their respective weeks with a link to their website.
The articles would be your choice of personal stories or essays showcasing your writing but more importantly introducing yourself to our book club members and building a closer relationship with them.
You also will be able to put a call to action such as visiting your website through an author bio at the end of each email.
However, to maintain the integrity of the newsletter and to keep it high quality for our members, I do have some guidelines sponsors will have to follow in order to participate in this new program.
Newsletter Content Guidelines
The purpose of the newsletter sponsorship is for our pulpwood author members to be able to build a relationship with the members of our book club. Our readers are not random internet surfers who found a website about books and joined a newsletter.
Our readers are book lovers from around the world who have decided to join our International Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys Reading Nation. Our members want to know more about our pulpwood author members as well as discover incredible novels to read.
Your content is meant to give them exactly that, a beautiful experience that creates a bond, establishing a new writer-to-reader relationship.
This is also your chance to provide ample material to talk about when you see them at events such as our International Book Club Convention.
Your stories/essays should delight our readers with your writing to the point where they are looking for how they can find your website and/or books naturally. These emails should not be or feel like a disguised book ad.
It is my primary mission as the editor to keep this newsletter from being a pitch fest to our readers asking them to go buy your latest book. We want our readers to be excited to receive our emails because they know the sponsoring author member of the week will deliver something special in every email.
If we provide this level of high-quality content, readers will not be annoyed at receiving weekly emails from us or feel like they are being spammed.
We will only allow one newsletter article sponsor per month going forward. We will have a total of 12 Newsletter Article Sponsorships for the year available so be sure to reserve your month before someone else grabs them up. Also, be sure to specify which week you want on the order form. You will also have the option to addon a newsletter announcement on the order form.
In order to sponsor a week in the newsletter, you must have purchased an Author Membership. Some authors signed up to the book club before we had an option for you to sign up for an Author Membership. So in our records, you are not labeled as an Author Member.
If you signed up before January 17, 2020 or if you are not sure if you are labeled as an author member…please contact Kathy L. Murphy (firstname.lastname@example.org) to make sure you are properly recorded as an Author Member.
I will distribute the content by releasing one story/essay on Tuesday and one story/essay on Thursday of your sponsored week. You can write either two personal stories, two essays, or one story and one essay. It is your choice and you can also choose which day they come out on.
So for example, a sponsored week could look like this:
Tuesday: Topical Essay Email
Thursday: Personal Story Email
500 words – 2,500 words
You are allowed to have two links in your Story/Essay providing they are not self-promoting/commercial such as a link to go buy your book. If you have a resource that will provide value to the reader then that link will be acceptable.
You can have one image that you have the copyright to use in your story or essay. If you have more images to share it would be better to provide a link to where readers can go look through your images.
You Bio should be 1-5 sentences about who you are, where readers can find you such as your website, what projects you are working on or just finished such as your last book, and/or what you’re passionate about. Also, encourage them to reach out to you in your Bio.
You are allowed to have three links in your bio and they can be to your website, social media handles, or your book.
You can have an author photo and a book image in your bio
Prohibited Topics/Subjects: (List is not exhaustive)
We want our newsletter to be appropriate for our book club so we do not want content that is going to offend or divide our book club. If you submit content that we think is not appropriate or too controversial we will reject the content. If we can not agree on the content and you are not happy with the sponsorship, we can then talk about steps for ending the sponsorship and a possible refund at that time.
1. No Politics (Let’s just not go there in our current social environment)
