Dear Pulpwood Queens, Timber Guys, my Authors, and Book Lovers everywhere!
It’s OFFICIAL! Received the big news in an email today, I am to graduate from college, The University of Texas at Tyler no less. I am beyond thrilled as other than the birth of my two incredible daughters and perhaps selling my option for my book, The Pulpwood Queens’ Tiara Wearing, Book Sharing Guide to Life” to film with DreamWorks, (which buckled me to my knees when I heard the news), this is the biggest day of my life! The moment I have been waiting for and if life had not kicked me in the seat of my pants and knocked me down over and over and over again, I would not have been forged by fire to be stronger than steel. My resolve, hard work, my willingness to learn and relearn, and CHANGE! You all the dedication to the work has paid off. Do the work kiddos as nothing beats EARNING YOUR OWN REWARDS! NOTHING! I FINALLY achieved this top priority #1 on life challenge of my Bucket List! Singing, “Oh, Happy Day!”
Now I can only have 11 people attend my Official graduation but I can have EVERYBODY come to my Senior Exhibition which was also just signed off on by my faculty advisor. It is FREE and we will lots of food and refreshments. so COME! Do note and mark your calendar for November 30th, 5:30 p.m. at The Meadows Gallery for my Gallery Talk and Senior Exhibition along with my fellow artists. I want to see you there and will be doing a Facebook LIVE video stream for those not able to attend.
December 15, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at the Cowan Center will be my OFFICIAL Graduation where my daughters and son-in-law will be with me. I will walk the walk as I earned it! Thank you to ALL of you who helped make this possible, by your emotional, spiritual, and financial support. I love you all. Be a lifelong learner is my motto! My hope is to pay it forward to be an encourager, mentor to others who are behind me. What is life if you cannot help your fellow man, woman, or child! Here is the link for the graduation information: http://www.uttyler.edu/commencement/ and they also have a VIDEO LIVESTREAM on this website.
So here is to EARNING my B.F.A. in Studio Arts with minor in Art History, you have no idea how ecstatic I am to type this and see it in print. Be a lifelong learner, I can also tell you, (it’s almost Official, just have to fill out the paperwork), I will be teaching Beginning Ceramics at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. I hope you are reading this Alex San Pedro who was my Beginning Ceramics instructor! He is the one who instilled in me the love of working with clay and who I hope to model for his compassion, kindness, and willingness to help students find their own gifts and talents. All my professors have been instrumental but Alex got the whole party started for me, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
The class will be Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Spring Semester! Thank you to Debbie Strong for bringing me into this learning institution. I will also continue my education as I have applied for graduate schools. Stay tuned for that continuing development and last, and I have to say this. Do not let anybody still your joy in pursuing your dreams. Do not let lack of finances deter you. If I can do this, anybody can but it is work, my friends, and great sacrifices. But it is the work that will get you to your dream, remember that, do the work. The reward is heaven on earth, my friends. I am in seventh heaven which is the name of our Gallery exhibition, SEVEN!
Truly, Tiara wearing, Book, and Education sharing,
Kathy L. Murphy
Greetings Ms. Murphy:
I have good news to convey. Your application for Graduation has been reviewed by your department’s faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences. Pending successful completion of any courses listed in progress and fulfillment of all university/college degree requirements, you have been cleared for graduation. A final review of the Application for Graduation will be completed after grades are posted for this semester.
If you have not done so already, you must forward the official transcripts of all courses taken at any other university/college to the UT Tyler Office of Admissions and Student Records. This must be done within thirty days after graduation. Failure to do so will require you to re-file for graduation during a subsequent semester. Information about diplomas may be found at the Registrar’s website.
You are invited to pick up your cap and gown in the University Bookstore and join your colleagues and the faculty as we recognize this significant accomplishment. Information about the graduation ceremony can be found at the registrar’s web page at:
Please note: this is your official department notice.
